The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office held its annual banquet on Thursday with more than 300 awards given to all 70 employees as well as other law enforcement officers and civilians who have assisted DCSO in their duties.
The awards banquet was held at the MG D. Allen Youngman National Guard Readiness Center.
“The men and women of the Sheriff’s Office have just concluded a monumental year and I could not be prouder of everything they have accomplished,” Sheriff Brad Youngman said. “The command staff and I were able to show our appreciation for the amazing job our deputies and staff do by recognizing many of their achievements.”
Events such as the September plane crash response and high-profile drug investigations, along with activities such as efforts to correct evidence storage problems were recognized with various levels of awards.
Forensics Investigations Unit Supervisor Dr. Cheryl Purdy and Finance Director Shelly O’Bryan both received the Sheriff’s Excellence Award, the highest recognition given by the office.

During his remarks at the banquet, Youngman was complimentary of the support DCSO has received from the Judge-Executive and County Commissioners during the first year of his term.
“Without your strong commitment to public safety and support for each of these deputies, none of this would be possible,” he said. “In many ways, these achievements are your achievements.”
Kentucky State Police Post 16 patrolled Daviess County and responded to all county calls for service so that each DCSO deputy could attend.
