Churchill Downs has been approved for the 71,500-square-foot property’s development plan at 460 Wrights Landing Rd. A significant portion of the location is set to be dedicated to the gaming floor.
The facility, named Owensboro Racing & Gaming, will feature a center bar on the gaming floor with an expected 27 bar seats and a sports bar opposite the smoking section.
There are plans for a smoking gaming area on the west side of the building. Before one is able to enter the smoking section, there is a vestibule connecting to the main area. The building includes a new automatic fire sprinkler system and a new automatic fire alarm system.
The blueprints also leave room for a potential 150×224 future expansion in the land’s southeast corner.
Parking is expected to hold 624 spaces, with 522 dedicated to customer parking. Customers will be encouraged to enter from Wrights Landing Road.
The blueprints were created by Sosh Architects of Atlantic City. The general contractor for the project is listed as Calhoun Construction of Louisville.
