Five local organizations are receiving donations of $3,080 each thanks to the funds raised during Daviess County’s Christmas at Panther Creek event, which brought in just more than $30,000.

The organizations — which are selected by a random draw — collectively receive half of the total event proceeds. This year’s beneficiaries were Aubrey’s Song Foundation for Eating Disorders, Dust Bowl Inc, Moseleyville Volunteer Fire Department, Stanley Community Playground, and the Help Office of Owensboro.

The organizations provide volunteers at the gate, accepting the $5 vehicle admission. The other half of the money raised goes back toward preparing next year’s light show.

Officials said the event brought in roughly 6,000 vehicles, making it the third-most successful Christmas light show ever for the County. A record amount of $49,300 was raised in 2020, while more than $38,000 was raised in 2021.

Applications for nonprofits to volunteer for the 2024 event will open later this year. For more information, contact the Parks and Recreation office at 270-685-6142.
