Planet Fitness has opened its new location in the former Towne Square Mall, complete with 23,000 square feet of equipment and spa services.

The location held a soft opening on Friday and a grand opening on Tuesday. General Manager Kim Hidenrite noted the reception has been well thus far.

The new location is officially at 5000 Frederica Street Suite H15 in the former Burkes Outlet on the front side of the now-closed mall. Planet Fitness has direct access to the parking lot, meaning members won’t use the former mall entrance.

The gym has Black Card Spa amenities including tanning, red light therapy, massage chairs, HydroMassage recliners, and CryoLounge+ chairs.

According to Planet Fitness Marketing Director Ken Horn, the club features more than 100 pieces of cardio equipment including treadmills, elliptical machines, stairclimbers, bikes (upright and recumbent), indoor stationary racing cycles, rowers, and Sci-fit. The club also has a full-strength training area highlighted by 6 Smith Machines. There is also a 30-minute circuit training area as well as a PF360XL area with ropes, kettlebells, and other functional training equipment.

Planet Fitness classic members are only able to have one home gym. This means if a Planet Fitness Cardholder is currently a member at the KY 54 location, they will need to either transfer their membership to Frederica Street or upgrade to a Black Card which will enable unlimited access to Planet Fitness gyms.

Plans start as low as $10 a month with no commitment. In addition, for $24.99/month, Planet Fitness Black Card members receive the added benefits including the ability to bring a guest every time, access to HydroMassage beds and massage chairs, the ability to work out at any of the 2,400+ Planet Fitness locations, and more.
