A capella group Pentatonix, which includes Owensboro native Kevin Olusola, has earned a nomination for the 66th Annual Grammy Awards for their latest album, “Holidays Around the World.”

The group was nominated in the Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album category. It’s their 5th Grammy nomination; they’ve won 3. The group previously won Best Country Duo/Group Performance and was twice awarded Best Arrangement, Instrumental or A Cappella. Their only nomination not to win was for “Evergreen” in the Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album category.

The category is for albums containing greater than 75% playing time of new traditional pop recordings. Nominees include:

  • To Steve With Love: Liz Callaway Celebrates Sondheim
    Liz Callaway
  • Pieces Of Treasure
    Rickie Lee Jones
  • Bewitched
    Laufey
  • Holidays Around The World
    Pentatonix
  • Only The Strong Survive
    Bruce Springsteen
  • Sondheim Unplugged (The NYC Sessions), Vol. 3
    (Various Artists)

The awards won’t be announced until February 4, 2024, but the group will be headed to the Ford Center in Evansville on November 30 for a stop on their “The Most Wonderful Tour Of The Year.” They tour accompanies their “The Greatest Christmas Hits” album — which has already hit 3 on the Top Holiday Albums charts. Pentatonix also partnered with Superfan to offer vans unique VIP experiences during the holiday season. Fans can purchase VIO Superfan packages that include exclusive merchandise items, a group photo with the group, an intimate Q&A session, and exclusive access to the band’s “Holidays Around the World” VIP pre-show party.

Last year’s tour was the group’s highest-attended and most successful ever, selling out at several stops. The band wants to carry that momentum into the Pentatonix The Most Wonderful Tour Of The Year tour.

Pentatonix received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame this past February.

Olusola, 34, was raised in Owensboro after moving here in his early childhood. He attended Owensboro High School for two years before enrolling at Phillips Academy Andover in Massachusetts during his junior year. After graduating from Andover, Olusola attended Yale University, where he graduated in 2011 with a degree in East Asian Studies. Olusola also has a star on the Owensboro Walk of Fame. That was unveiled in June 2017 at ROMP Fest.
