Old National Bank is celebrating Dia de los Muertos this Saturday with a parking lot party at their downtown location, complete with music, food, and activities for all.

The event will run from 12-4 p.m. Dia De Los Muertos — translated to English as Day of the Dead — is a 2-day holiday that allows the living to celebrate those who have passed and honor them in death.

The event will also include bank representatives providing tips on how to work on building financial credit, according to Wealth Advisor Mario Vizuet. He and Commercial Development Professional Nico Bustamante also hope to allow the Hispanic community a chance to develop relationships with the bank and other community organizations.

The event will also include representatives from Owensboro Health providing health checkups and showcasing the importance of healthcare careers.

“We want to help people learn more about the importance of finance and health, and also for other people to learn about the Hispanic culture and one of our most favorite holidays,” Vizuet said.

According to Bustamante, RiverValley Behavioral Health, DMC Photography, face painting business Corporate Hippie, El Bracero, and Real Hacienda will all be in attendance.

The event would not happen without the acceptance that Owensboro has instilled, Bustamante said.

“This event goes beyond just one culture, this is an experience for everyone in this community. It is all about paying homage to those who came before us and to celebrate their lives and memories,” he said. “Regardless of background, that is the one thing that ties us together as one human family — our desire to remember and honor those we have loved and lost.”
