A new bus service will soon connect Owensboro with six cities including Evansville, Indianapolis, and Nashville — with ticket prices as low as $1 for those booking a month or more in advance. Schedules are now available and tickets can be purchased today for travel to and from Owensboro beginning on January 25.
The service is the result of a partnership between Megabus, one of the largest bus companies in North America, and Miller Transportation, one of the largest transportation companies serving the Midwest.
The bus stop will be located at Owensboro Bus Station at 430 Allen Street, though the service is run directly by Megabus and Miller Transportation (not the City of Owensboro).
The service will go active in Owensboro on January 25, and rides can be booked now by clicking here. Fares vary based on route and how far in advance tickets are booked, but can be found for as low as $1.
Megabus recently introduced real-time tracking on their buses, so customers can monitor their routes with live departure and arrival times. The Megabus luxury double-deckers offer at-seat power outlets, panoramic windows, and wi-fi.
Customers can travel with one piece of luggage (see their policy including maximum size here) per ticket for free with no additional fees, plus one carry-on bag.

Owensboro is only a small piece of the partnership announced Wednesday. The expanded service includes options for 56 cities including Chicago, Detroit, Indianapolis, Louisville, Nashville, and Memphis.
Megabus has major North American transportation hubs around the US and Canada, serving more than 100 different cities and university campuses.
“The continued expansion of our network to more than 50 cities throughout the central United States is an exciting opportunity for Megabus,” said Colin Emberson, VP Commercial for Megabus. “We’re pleased to be able to offer the customers in Indiana, Illinois Michigan, Tennessee, and Kentucky additional convenient and safe travel options; with connections to points beyond.”
Megabus also touts their key commitment of providing eco-friendly travel and reducing their carbon footprint whenever possible.
“Our buses emit the least carbon dioxide per mile when compared to other vehicles and are seven times more energy and fuel-efficient than single-occupancy automobiles,” the company website reads. “Our buses are three times more efficient in reducing carbon dioxide output when compared to commuter rail, and six times more efficient than transit buses.”
