OPD: Juvenile charged in relation to shooting of another juvenile in January

A juvenile is facing multiple charges in relation to the shooting of a male juvenile and an occupied residence on Jan. 22, but has not been charged for the actual shooting, according to the Owensboro Police Department.

Detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division charged the juvenile suspect on Friday with possession of handgun by a minor (first offense), receiving stolen property (firearm), and possession of marijuana. The juvenile was cited and released to a guardian per order of the Daviess County Court
Designated Worker, according to OPD.

The juvenile victim’s injuries were not life-threatening injuries, OPD said in the original release about the incident. An occupied residence was also struck several times, but no one inside was injured.

According to reports, at approximately 12:20 a.m. OPD responded to the 3900 block of Carpenter Drive for a reported shooting. The juvenile victim located with a single gunshot wound and transported to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital.
