A juvenile has been arrested and is facing felony charge in relation to a bomb threat made at Apollo High School on Thursday.
According to Brad Youngman, lead officer for the DCPS Police Department, said the suspect was arrested Friday, charged with complicity to commit second-degree terroristic threatening, a class D felony.
The juvenile was transported to the Warren County Juvenile Detention Center in Bowling Green.
AHS received a call containing a bomb threat at approximately 1 p.m. Thursday. The building was evacuated immediately, and students were allowed to return to the building at approximately 1:45 p.m. after no device was found during a sweep of the campus.
The DCPS Police Department took the lead on investigating the incident. Youngman said Gary Klee, Apollo’s School Resource Officer, led the investigation for the department.
Youngman said many students were eager to help because they were concerned during the incident. Klee made the arrest after speaking with several students and reviewing video surveillance.
Youngman said they are in touch with the FBI “to ensure that we have the most updated recommended protocols and threat information to ensure that our responses to these situations are appropriate.”
Owensboro High School also received bomb threats this week, one on Wednesday and one Thursday. Those incidents are still under investigation by the Owensboro Police Department. OPD Public Information Officer Andrew Boggess said they believe a different person is responsible for the threats at OHS.
