FOP endorses Brad Youngman for Daviess County Sheriff

The Fraternal Order of Police Owensboro Lodge 16 voted at their March meeting to endorse Brad Youngman for Daviess County Sheriff. Youngman, an active member of Lodge 16, a retired U.S. Army officer and has nearly two decades of local law enforcement service. 

“I am running for Daviess County Sheriff because I believe Daviess County deserves safe homes, safe schools, and safe streets,” Youngman said. “I am honored that my brothers and sisters of FOP Lodge 16 have endorsed me and my mission. We share the belief that public safety is the number one concern in our community, and I look forward to continuing my work with the FOP throughout this campaign and beyond.” 

Youngman served the Owensboro Police Department from 2004 -2015 and the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office from 2015-2021. He is currently employed by the Daviess County Public Schools Police Department as the Lead Law Enforcement Officer. He is responsible for the daily operations of the police department and the safety and security of the district’s 21 buildings and more than 12,000 personnel including students, staff, and visitors. 

In addition to his law enforcement career, Youngman served as a Military Intelligence Officer and Counterintelligence Agent with over 20 years of service in the United States Army and Kentucky Army National Guard, where he worked primarily in Special Operations assignments. During his military service, Youngman deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan and served domestic tours in counter-narcotics programs, homeland security, and on the U.S./Mexico international border. 

Brad and his wife Brook reside in Owensboro and have two sons, Kaden and Ethan. ​​

The upcoming primary election for Daviess County is set for May 17, 2022. The general election will be Nov. 8, 2022.
