Sgt. Andrew Tucker, of the 100th Army Band/U.S. Army Reserve, recently participated in the Consortium Best Warrior Competition. Tucker — who is also the Apollo High School director of bands — won three events, was recognized as the 81st Readiness Division (RD) Soldier of the Year, and will move on in the Best Warrior Competition.

The Consortium of the Best Warrior Competition (BWC) was held for Army Reserve Soldiers at Camp Bullis in San Antonio, Texas, from March 1-6.

Soldiers from various Army Reserve units across the U.S. competed for the title of Best Warrior, and for the chance to move into the next round of the BWC held by the U.S. Army Reserve Command at Ft. McCoy, Wisconsin, in May.

Tucker is one of those moving on to the next round.

“I really appreciate all the support I’ve received,” Tucker said. “I was there representing my division the 81st Readiness Division and my unit the 100th Army Band. Over the course of the competition, I competed against soldiers from other divisions in various events and soldier skills and was fortunate enough to be named the 81st RD’s Noncommissioned Officer (NCO) of the Year. I also won three of the events overall (M17 Pistol Qualification, Night Land Navigation, and the Written Exam).”

The competition included a 12-mile foot march, marksmanship, physical fitness, obstacle course, land navigation, written tests, oral board interviews, MOUT training and Army Warrior Task lanes, along with a swim event.
