A Daviess County man was arrested Monday evening after an hours-long standoff with law enforcement. According to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office, the man fired one gunshot during the incident, then resisted arrest and attempted to break free from the DCSO cruiser.
Timothy Spellman, 56, is facing two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer, two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, third-degree assault of a police officer, and resisting arrest.
According to reports, DCOS deputies responded to the 5000 of Jones Road in reference to a man who was armed and intoxicated. DCSO reported Spellman was armed with multiple firearms and that he fired off a gunshot at the rear door while deputies were talking to him.
Spellman barricaded himself in the residence for approximately 3 hours until DCSO deputies and Kentucky State Police troopers entered. Deputies said Spellman fought but was eventually placed under arrest. According to DCSO, Spellman continued to resist arrest and attempted to break out of a DCSO cruiser window.
Multiple loaded firearms were located beside Spellman, with multiple loose rounds in the immediate area, according to reports.
Spellman was also wanted out of Georgia for outstanding warrants. He was arrested and transported to the hospital for medical attention and then to the Daviess County Detention Center.
