Andy Gamblin is running for Daviess County’s Central Commissioner seat in the 2022 election, and one of his main goals is trying to help find ways to improve Towne Square Mall.
He noted there is not much for the youth to do across town, specifically with the downfall of the mall. He said most people end up traveling to Bowling Green or Evansville to enjoy mall amenities they can no longer find in Owensboro.
“That’s not what we need for Daviess County. You know, I don’t want kids to be subjected to that. And it’s a crying shame,” Gamblin said.
One way he wants to see Daviess County prosper is by keeping the taxes low, and potentially lowering some taxes to help get the mall up and running like it was before.
But he said he doesn’t want to just focus on getting businesses into the mall. He wants to try to make Daviess County more appealing to attract businesses countywide.
To attract people from outside the area, he also hopes to work on a better connection from I-69 to Owensboro and build more toward that side of the county.
He cites his long-term residency and his love for the county as qualifying points to know how to best move this county forward should he be elected.
“I want to try and make it easy for businesses to come to Owensboro, and we just need to try and work with what we’ve got and just try to do better,” Gamblin said.
