OPD: Teen charged after shooting unoccupied residence Tuesday on Holly Avenue

A 17-year-old juvenile is facing several charges after allegedly discharging a weapon Tuesday night on Holly Avenue then fleeing and discarding a handgun, according to the Owensboro Police Department. 

According to a release, OPD responded to the 1000 block of Holly Avenue at approximately 9:15 p.m. for a firearm discharge where an unoccupied residence was struck multiple times by gunfire. The juvenile suspect fled from responding officers and discarded the weapon. Officers were able to apprehend the juvenile and recover the firearm. 

The suspect was transported to the Warren Regional Juvenile Detention Center and charged with first-degree criminal mischief, tampering with physical  evidence, possession of a handgun by minor (first offense), second-degree fleeing/evading police, and possession of marijuana.
