A Maceo man is facing multiple counts of sodomy and sexual abuse of a victim under 12 years of age. Jay Estes, 24, was arrested Tuesday by the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office for the alleged offenses.

Estes is facing four counts each of first degree sodomy and sexual abuse of a victim under 12, as well as 10 counts of promoting a minor in a sexual performance.

According to Detective Jared Spurrier, DCSO spent weeks conducting an extensive digital investigation and found images and videos of a minor child on an electronic device belonging to and being used by Estes.

Spurrier said an individual who was communicating with Estes came forward to a law enforcement agency in another state and produced that conversation to them. Since the alleged crimes occured in Daviess County, the other agency alerted DCSO.

Spurrier said based on the investigation, the alleged crimes have probably been going on for some period of time.

Estes is currently being held at the Daviess County Detention Center.
