With as tough a lineup of opponents as Owensboro Catholic has had in recent memory, the Aces are looking to grind their way to a strong season with a core of upperclassmen.
Head coach Jason Morris said ffensively they have key upperclassmen returning — that trio being seniors Braden Mundy, Lincoln Clancy and J Crabtree.
Clancy will return to his starting job under center, while he’ll be looking to Mundy as his prime target at wide receiver and occasionally running back. Meanwhile Crabtree will look to provide them protection in his fourth year as the starting right tackle.
Defensively the Aces will look to seniors Jaden Fulkerson, Max Pride and Nick Clemens to lead the team to solid performances on that side of the ball.
The Aces also have a pair of newcomers at linebacker expecting to contribute right away in Vince Carrico and Brady Atwell.
With a number of strong opponents in the upcoming season, the Aces will need all the help they can get to earn some playoff football time.
“We play as tough of a schedule as Owensboro Catholic has seen in the past 10 years,” Morris said. “We expect to be very competitive and ready to make a deep playoff run after the regular season. Health of our senior leaders and the continued development from a very talented sophomore class of players [will be crucial].”
