The Owensboro Black Expo’s annual scholarship for education is back for the third year and the organization is looking for applicants.
The scholarship is for students aged 16 to 24 attending college, university and trade/vocational schools. That includes high school students that are taking dual enrollment classes.
Black Expo President Martiza Meeks said scholarships range from $500 to $1,000. To apply, students must meet the following requirements: they must be enrolled in a program for the Fall of 2021, a Daviess County resident, and have a GPA of 2.5 on their official transcript. There is also a short essay to fill out.
“We just got a huge donation from Owensboro Grain for $10,000. So we are excited to give out this money, but we don’t have enough applicants,” Meeks said.
Meeks said the Expo is looking for one more recipient to round out this semester’s cycle.
Meeks said interested applicants can fill out the Google Form here before the July 31 deadline.
