DCSO: Owensboro man facing numerous drug charges after chase

An Owensboro man is facing a bevy of drug-related charges after a recent incident in which he fled authorities in a vehicle and on foot. Various amounts of suspected meth, LSD, pills and other paraphernalia were found in the vehicle, and after a lengthy investigation Tyler Dearmond, 32, was arrested by the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office.

According to  a release, deputies responded to a reckless driver on US 231 when the caller advised a vehicle was all over the roadway.

Deputies located the vehicle traveling northbound in the 4800 block of New Hartford Road. Deputies said they observed the vehicle swerve multiple times and it appeared to be operated by a driver under the influence. 

According to DCSO, deputies conducted a traffic stop at New Hartford Road and Southeastern Parkway and the vehicle pulled over. As deputies approached, the driver began fleeing in the vehicle. Deputies pursued the vehicle northbound on New Hartford Road until the operator struck a parked vehicle at the corner of E. 15th and Breckenridge streets. 

According to DCSO, the suspect then fled on foot down an alley. 

Upon searching the vehicle, deputies located approximately: 18 grams of suspected meth, 860 doses of suspected LSD, 46 suspected Alprazolam pills, 8 suspected Oxycodone pills, 23 grams of suspected marijuana, and numerous other drug paraphernalia items consistent with trafficking. 

Dearmond is facing the following charges:

  • Fleeing/evading police, first degree (motor vehicle) and second degree (on foot)
  • Trafficking in a controlled substance, first degree (LSD)
  • Trafficking in a controlled substance, first degree (methamphetamine)
  • Trafficking in a controlled substance, first degree (drug unspecified schedules 1 and 2)
  • Trafficking in a controlled substance, third degree (drug not specified)
  • Wanton endangerment, first degree
  • Drug paraphernalia
  • Possession of marijuana
  • Reckless driving
