An Owensboro man is facing numerous charges including wanton endangerment and drug trafficking after leading deputies on a pursuit early Tuesday morning, according to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office.
Roger Douglas, 31, is facing the following charges: Fleeing/evading police, first degree (motor vehicle); possession of handgun by convicted felon; receiving stolen property (firearm); DUI, first degree; fleeing/evading police, second degree (on foot); wanton endangerment, first degree; wanton endangerment of a police officer, first degree; trafficking in controlled substance, first degree (methamphetamine); possession of marijuana; reckless driving; failure to or improper signal; no tail lamps.
According to a release, DCSO deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a suspected DUI driver in the 3200 block of W. Parrish Ave. at approximately 1 a.m. The driver refused to stop and led deputies on a chase.
Deputies chased the vehicle to the intersection of W. 4th and Plum streets, where the driver fled from the vehicle on foot. According to DCSO, a deputy quickly apprehended the suspect, Douglas, with no force used.
Through investigation, Douglas was charged with DUI. Additionally, a loaded pistol was located in the driver’s side floorboard. Deputies discovered that the pistol was reported stolen from a 2018 case.
Deputies also located approximately 28 grams of suspected methamphetamine, a small amount of suspected marijuana, and numerous drug paraphernalia items.
Douglas was arrested and lodged in the Daviess County Detention Center.
