Fraudulent unemployment letters have reportedly been circulating both locally and statewide. Some of the letters state that individuals are entitled to unemployment insurance benefits, with a dollar amount attached to it, and are made to look as though it is coming from the state’s offices.
Gov. Andy Beshear’s office has confirmed these letters are concerning fraudulent claims made on behalf of employees or individuals.
Anyone receiving a letter like the one below, or suspecting they have had a fraudulent unemployment insurance claim, is encouraged to email [email protected], call (502) 564-2387 or use this anonymous reporting form.

According to the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, fraud makes up about 35% of unemployment insurance pandemic claims. The federal government over the past six months has provided nearly $200 million dollars to states to help fight fraud.
