City Commissioners on Tuesday approved an agreement with the Daviess County Fiscal Court and Daviess County Public Schools Special Law Enforcement Agency to allow DCPS officers access to a statewide terminal providing names of those with outstanding warrants and other criminal issues.
“This allows DCPS law enforcement officers to access the Law Information Network of Kentucky (LINK),” said City Manager Nate Pagan. “As is allowed [by] state law, DCPS last year decided to hire its own officers instead of contracting with the Sheriff’s Office.”
The agreement allows DCPS officers to access the LINK terminal through the 911 Consolidated Central Dispatch Agency.
With Owensboro Police Department Chief Art Ealum being the local LINK administrator, he will oversee the DCPS officers’ use of the system, Pagan said.
