Friday After 5 has cancelled its first two events of the 2020 season due to the novel coronavirus. Those events were scheduled for May 22 and 29.
The FA5 board of directors said in a release Monday morning that the season may be further shortened or cancelled depending on the evolution of the virus and its impact in the Owensboro region, though they are continuing to make preparations as originally planned.
“We feel Friday After 5 provides an important role in bringing our community together, so it is our most sincere hope that we will be able to provide a portion of the concert series to our guests this summer,” the release reads.
“We realize the impact that cancelling entertainers currently booked for our 2020 season would place on them,” the board said in the release. “We pledge to give all entertainers and bands timely updates on our plans as this crisis evolves.”
The board said the ultimate decision will be based on city, state and federal recommendations and the policies of their venue partners — the RiverPark Center and the Owensboro Convention Center.
