Care Net Owensboro, in partnership with local churches and nonprofits, is offering baby supplies to the community during the coronavirus pandemic.

“We knew that there were folks in the community who were out of work because of the COVID-19 crisis,” said Executive Director Lisa Hyland. “We decided that we would help them by providing some of these things to anyone who was in need.”

The Christian-based organization is providing diapers, wipes, baby food and formula. This service was previously only available as part of their Equip 101 education program.

Care Net opened the service to the community after other organizations closed because of the various regulations. Their business is deemed essential because of the medical services it provides, such as ultrasounds as well as pregnancy and STD testing.

“We’re handling it a little differently right now because we have those things available and there’s a need. And so we want to give it away just to people who have a need right now,” Hyland said.

She said community partners and donors have contributed supplies specifically for coronavirus circumstances.

“We want to be the hands and feet of Christ in the middle of this crisis,” Hyland said. “If someone has a need, if they’re child is hungry or they need basic baby supplies and we have those supplies, then we want to be the first to give those away to those who are in need.”
