A male juvenile was charged with 2nd-degree assault and possession of a handgun by a minor after Owensboro Police Department detectives investigated a firearm discharge Tuesday night.
OPD responded to a firearm discharge complaint at approximately 9:54 p.m. in the 2200 block of Bluff Ave.
At that time, officers were unable to locate any evidence of the shooting or any subjects in the area.
Later in the evening, at approximately 11:14 p.m., officers responded to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital for a call of an adult male with a gunshot wound. Based on statements at the hospital, this is believed to be related to the original firearm discharge complaint.
The victim’s injuries are believed to be non-life threatening.
A detective responded to OHRH Tuesday night to continue the investigation. That’s when the juvenile was charged.
