A school resource officer at Daviess County High School was alerted to a possible vaping overdose after a female juvenile was transported to the hospital on Thursday. According to a release from the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office, the female was treated and released from Owensboro Health Region Hospital. The vaping substance the juvenile was consuming is being sent to a Kentucky State Police lab for analysis.

Various drug charges may be filed on six additional juveniles and possible others as law enforcement and the school district continue their investigation of the incident.

In a statement to Owensboro Times, DCPS Public Information Officer Lora Wimsatt said the district is prohibited by law from sharing information about any medical or disciplinary issues regarding a student.
