UPDATE (3:40 p.m.) — On Friday morning deputies with the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office responded to an accident involving a semi and trailer and a train. John Ellington was operating a 2017 Freightliner semi northbound on Wimsatt Road when it’s landing gear became lodged on the railroad tracks as it crossed near the intersection of Griffith Station Road.
A train operated by a CSX engineer then struck the semi separating it from the empty trailer it was hauling.
Ellington was able to exit the truck prior to the collision and no one was injured during the accident.
Assisting the DCSO was the Daviess County Fire Department, Stanley Fire Department, CSX investigators, and the Kentucky State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement.
