Daviess County Judge-Executive Al Mattingly has signed an executive order issuing a burn ban for Daviess County after prevailing dry weather conditions have created a threat of brush fires in the area.

Effective 10 a.m. on Sept. 27, no person shall light or maintain an open fire at any location within Daviess County, with the exception of cooking and contained fires, where the container must have all sides fully enclosed and covered.

Any person(s) violating this order may be subject to fines not less than $50 or more than $500, the order said.

This order will remain in effect until sufficient rainfall occurs and subject order is lifted.

Fiscal Court said questions can be directed to local volunteer fire stations or the Daviess County Fire Department at 270-685 8440 (East) / 270-685-8431 (West).
