Wendell Foster hosts self-advocacy session with actor, speaker DeSanctis

Wendell Foster, a local agency serving people with disabilities, is pleased to host this session on building advocacy skills throughout the lifespan with David DeSanctis and Nicole Maher.

David is a 26-year-old self-advocate who lives in Louisville, KY. He starred in the feature film “Where Hope Grows” as the lead character “Produce.” David is a motivational speaker who inspires people to follow their dreams. He is a strong believer in self-determination and advocacy and currently serves as a member of the Commonwealth Council on Developmental Disabilities.

Nicole is the Self-Advocacy Coordinator for the Commonwealth Council on Developmental Disabilities. She is a mother of 4 daughters, one who has Down syndrome. Her career in the disability field has included being a Program Director for an agency that provides waiver services, serving as an Employment Counselor trained in supported employment, a Residential Manager for a staffed residence as well as a Special Education Assistant. This varied experience has given her the ability to understand many sides of an issue. She has been involved in advocacy for the past 19 years.

The event will be held on Monday, May 13, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Young Meeting House. A light dinner will be provided. Please RSVP to: [email protected].
