Juveniles charged in car thefts

According to the Owensboro Police Department, on Dec. 12 at about 8:20 a.m. the Owensboro Police Department and Daviess County Sheriff’s Office located two juveniles in a stolen vehicle in the area of the 2900 Block of Baybrook Street.

Detectives from the Owensboro Police Department were able to determine the juveniles had been involved in multiple thefts overnight as well as a burglary outside of the city limits. Two stolen vehicles along with numerous other stolen property were recovered.

Both juveniles were charged by the Owensboro Police Department with theft of an automobile, theft of a controlled substance, receiving stolen property and leaving the scene of an accident.

The juveniles were additionally charged with burglary in the second degree, criminal trespassing in the third degree and one juvenile was charged with terroristic threatening in the third degree by the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office.

When asked to elaborate on the terroristic threatening charges, the DCSO said that the threat was made from one juvenile to another family member.

“[The juvenile] went to the residence and threatened to shoot his brother,” said DCSO Major Barry Smith. “Any time you threaten bodily harm to another person, it is terrorist threatening,” Smith added.
