Advanced Center for Orthopedics & Sports Medicine has added another Dr. Polio to the practice. William Polio has returned home to join his father Joseph L. and brother Joseph A. to offer more specialized orthopedic care.
William recently received one of the highest national honors in orthopedic shoulder surgery as a leading author for a research paper that won the Charles S. Neer Award of the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons Foundation. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree at the University of Louisville School of Medicine, where he went on to complete his residency training in orthopedic surgery. He then continued his training to advance his expertise by completing a yearlong, exclusive fellowship in sports medicine at Campbell Clinic in Memphis.
As a lifelong athlete, William Polio has also attained many athletic achievements. He is a former Kentucky state champion in cross country and national champion for triathlon. His earned roles have included serving as a 4.0 salutatorian at Owensboro Catholic High School and as a 4.0 valedictorian at Centre College. During medical school, he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society for his academic achievement.
