Sam’s Southern Eatery on West Parrish Avenue is closing, the owners announced Tuesday, citing slow business and rising costs. The restaurant opened in October 2020 in the former Hardee’s building.

“We’re closing because business has been slow, but mostly because prices were going so high that increasing our prices would do more harm than good,” owner Moe Iweinat told Owensboro Times. “An increase in our prices wouldn’t have been affordable or reasonable.”

Iweinat said the last day will be Wednesday or Thursday based on when they run out of inventory. Various restaurant equipment is for sale; interested parties can contact Iweinat at 270-993-0394.

The restaurant offered a wide variety of menu options including seafood, burgers, chicken and gumbo, as well as Southern sides and appetizers.

Iweinat and co-owner Moses Ibrahim wanted to “bring the New Orleans experience up north” and offer some Cajun flavor.
