FRANKFORT, Ky. (Feb. 20, 2025) – In Kentucky and across America, electricity is at the core of almost everything we do. But while many people recognize the importance of having the lights stay on, few understand how our power grid works or what exactly makes electricity reliable.

That’s why Dependable Power First (DPF) Kentucky — a statewide coalition promoting reliable, resilient, and affordable energy — has released a new educational video featuring influential voices from across the Commonwealth: “Protecting Kentucky’s Electricity Supply.”

In the video, DPF Kentucky interviews a wide array of coalition members, elected officials and small business owners statewide to discuss how a reliable and affordable electricity supply is critical to keeping communities across the Bluegrass State running strong.

Kentuckians featured in this newly released video include:
• Darrin Benton – Magistrate, Muhlenberg County Fiscal Court
• Kevin Cotton – Mayor, City of Madisonville
• Grant Jones – Small Business Owner, Greenville
• Jon Park – Deputy Judge/Executive, Shelby County Fiscal Court
• Chris Skates – Former Trump Administration Senior Energy Advisor

“Against the backdrop of an accelerating energy transition, overlooked risks to grid stability and energy security are becoming increasingly urgent,” said DPF Kentucky executive director Katelyn Bunning. “Ill-informed, politically motivated regulations designed to force traditional power sources into early retirement have created a widening gap between power supply and demand, straining the grid and threatening higher energy costs for Kentucky families and businesses.”
