FRANKFORT, Ky. (Sept. 17, 2024) — Dependable Power First (DPF) Kentucky, a coalition dedicated to educating Kentuckians on the importance of affordable and reliable electricity, today announced the release of the first video in a new series focused on explaining the basics of the electricity grid and electric reliability.

The video series is designed to help Kentuckians better understand how the grid affects their everyday lives and the essential role that dependable power plants play in keeping electricity reliable and affordable.

The first video in the series introduces the concept of the electricity grid — the network of power plants, transmission lines, substations, and distribution lines that deliver electricity to homes and businesses across the state. It also highlights the importance of having dependable sources of electricity.

DPF Kentucky hopes this series will give Kentuckians a better appreciation for how their electricity is produced and what can be done to ensure a reliable and affordable power supply.

The first video in the series, “Understanding the Power Grid and Electric Reliability,” is now live on the DPF Kentucky website and can be accessed here: https://bit.ly/4gq5EH5
