Earth Day Celebration at OMSH

The Pennyrile Group of the KY Sierra Club will celebrate Earth Day 2024 from 2:00 to 5:00 on Sunday, April 21 at the Owensboro Museum of Science and History (OMSH), 122 E. Second Street. Special events will include urban nature walks led by naturalist Obbie Todd at 2:30 and 4:00 and local musician Arnie Weiner will play music and lead a sing-along at 3:00.

Several events will be going on continuously, including viewing through a solar telescope with Cran Combs that will be setup in front of the museum. Inside the museum, there will be information and demonstrations shared by several local groups including Water Watch KY, the Audubon Society, Joe Ford Nature Center and others.

Hands-on activities include a rock identification table inside and then outside on the loading dock, there will be supplies provided for driftwood painting and collection of glass for recycling. The OMSH, founded in 1966, is housed within a historic 19th and early 20th-century building in downtown Owensboro, Kentucky.

The museum is a gathering spot, a learning center, and a family-friendly entertainment experience. Full access to the museum exhibits and activities will be available, as well as access to the gift shop that features Kentucky crafts.
