Habitat for Humanity hosted Women Build Day for members of IMPACT100 to help build the new education & training center named after former director Virginia Braswell.
“Back in October of 2022 Habitat was blessed to have been awarded the IMPACT100 large grant to build Ms. Virginia’s Education & Training Center. Now the same people who believed in this transformation project are going to roll up their sleeves and put in some sweat equity of their own,” Executive Director Jeremy Stephens said.
The new homeowner training facility will be the first of its kind in the United States. It will be a house used in Habitat’s Homeownerships Program where workshops/classes will be hosted year round in maintenance, lawncare, painting, care for appliances, homeowners insurance, finance and budgeting and more. Habitat’s goal is to have Ms. Virginia’s Education & Training Center completed by late spring of 2024.
IMPACT100 President Beth Clements said they are proud to have the full circle moment.
“We are proud to work with Habitat for Humanity on this needed and innovative center, which is sure to be a model for Habitat affiliates across the country. This center will make a positive impact for current and future homeowners, empowering them to care for their investment for years to come,” Clements said.
