The Marilyn and William Young Foundation will host a free professional development opportunity for local nonprofit organizations, with training provided by the Center for Nonprofit Excellence.
This training will be offered to nonprofit board members and staff on April 25 and 26. Sessions will be interactive, with opportunities to share experiences and knowledge among the participants. The training opportunity is endorsed and co-hosted by the Green River Area Community Foundation, the Lawrence and Augusta Hager Educational Foundation, and the Public Life Foundation of Owensboro.
The training will offer a focus specific to board members in Best Practices in Board Governance, and a focus on Scenario Based Training in Challenging Times, designed for other nonprofit staff.
“By providing these leadership trainings locally, the Young Foundation Board is focusing their efforts to elevate a new generation of skilled public and private sector leaders able to embrace and navigate change,” said Sara Hemingway, the foundation’s executive director.
Organizations interested in attending the training can choose the evening session from 5-7 p.m. on April 25 (dinner served), or day session from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on April 26 (lunch served). Sessions will take place at the Field Center at Brescia University. Attendance is limited to 60 participants at each session.
