Project Volunteer Hands On. Hand up. Season Four, Episode Seven: Third Baptist Church Soup Kitchen
As Mother Nature ushers out pool days and invites in blossoming pumpkin patches, my taste buds acquiesce that grilled cheeseburgers will soon be replaced by pots of chili. Perhaps your ‘go to’ autumn bowl of warm is chicken noodle soup; maybe you’re a veggie soup lover. Regardless of your preference, we can all agree that soup warms the soul in the winter.
Third Baptist Church recognizes the need to warm the soul with food! Its location across the street from the Bus Station inspired the church to open a soup kitchen when they witnessed hunger firsthand. Every night, volunteers of all ages serve dinner to those in need. What about those who can’t make the evening meal? The Blessing Box! Each day, granola bars and easy to open canned goods, fresh fruits and veggies are stocked so no person goes hungry. In Romans 12:20, we are warned that no one is exempt from the call to feed the hungry. Third Baptist accepts this scripture quite literally and is living out the call to serve! You can help! If you don’t have time to offer, you can volunteer to help by providing food to stock the Blessing Box! Let’s be certain that nobody in our community suffers in hunger! Watch this show at https://youtu.be/dxuJQtPxQxM?si=3OFQrmzertQnJY5s to see if Theresa can convince Randy to eat canned spinach! That’s not a challenge I’m willing to accept!
