Cassie Campbell has been named the next Owensboro Innovation Academy Director. She replaced Beth Benjamin, who was recently named District Counseling Director for Owensboro Public Schools.
“I am excited to lead the team at Owensboro Innovation Academy and help ensure our students are fully prepared for life after high school,” Campbell said. “Our focus on project-based learning empowers students to think critically and develop the skills necessary for success in today’s rapidly changing world and provides a unique way to apply the lessons they learn to real-world experiences.”
Campbell comes to OPS after spending the past year as Daviess County High School’s assistant principal. Before that, she served 9 years as a counselor across Daviess County Public Schools and as an assistant principal at McLean County Middle School. She began her career in 2007 as a Spanish teacher at Daviess County.
In her new role, Campbell will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Owensboro Innovation Academy. She will coordinate all staff to provide quality instruction in the school curriculum and student activities and continue ongoing community partnerships between the school and local organizations.
“We are beyond thrilled to have Mrs. Campbell leading OIA into their next chapter,” said Superintendent Dr. Wendy Duvall. “Beth Benjamin and her team did a phenomenal job launching the school and turning it into a shining example of nontraditional learning in a public school setting. I look forward to watching Mrs. Campbell continue to build on the success of OIA and find new, innovative ways to provide the highest quality education for our students.”
