York named DCPS Assistant Superintendent of Human Services

Dr. Caleb York has been named Assistant Superintendent of Human Services for Daviess County Public Schools. He will begin his new role on August 1, following the retirement of Dr. Amy Shutt.

York’s experience includes serving as a staff developer, assistant principal, interim principal, and principal at Audubon Elementary School; teacher at Estes Elementary School; and achievement gap coordinator at teh DCPS Central Office; and most recently School Supports Coordinator for DCPS.

“The Daviess County Public Schools is a special district,” York said. “I feel so blessed to be chosen to serve as the next Assistant Superintendent for Human Services. I am excited to serve the staff, students, and families of DCPS. As I transition into this role, I plan to continue the outstanding work that has made DCPS an excellent place for our students to learn and our team to work.” 

Shutt, who will retire on July 31, said York “has established himself as an educator that serves others with integrity and problem-solves with a systematic approach. I have worked with Dr. York as a peer principal, as well as the assistant superintendent. I admire his advocacy for students, his passion to support the people of our district, and his strong work ethic. He will be an amazing leader in this new position and I look forward to seeing the great things he will do for the staff and students of the Daviess County Public Schools.” 

In his new role, York will be responsible for all areas of human resources. York will lead and manage the effectiveness of the district’s human resources department’s systems. He will provide guidance and oversight for the evaluation process for all DCPS employees. 

He will also administer the Board of Education’s Site-Based Decision Making policies and procedures at DCPS schools, and will work with principals and other administrators to monitor staffing needs and develop staffing plans. He will continue to serve on the district MTSS guidance team. 

“Dr. York has both outstanding school and district leadership experience within DCPS. He is well-respected and admired as a leader among leaders in our district,” said Superintendent Matt Robbins. “The combination of Dr. York’s talents, skills, experience, and character will allow him to excel in this new role. Our DCPS staff will have a strong advocate in Dr. York as the leader of human resources due to his natural passion and love for people.”
