The Owensboro Riverport Authority and Owensboro Community and Technical College are hosting a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Academy Open House on April 20. The academy works with more than 20 companies providing work, earning sponsorships, and post-training employer placement.
The event is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on and will be held at the Riverport located at 1771 River Road. Prospective partner companies, students, and all community members can attend.
OCTC staff will be on hand to answer questions related to program applications, college enrollment requirements, and financial assistance. Information on funds to help offset the cost of training will be available to companies interested in CDL certification for new hires or incumbent workers.
OCTC’s CDL Academy was launched in November 2021. Since then, they have enrolled 111 students with a 93% pass rate on the licensure exam.
“This is really workforce development in action. If your business needs drivers, this is your opportunity to learn how to maximize your efforts in a cost-efficient manner,” said OCTC President Dr. Scott Williams.
