Owensboro Community & Technical College has named Owensboro native Dr. Shane Armstrong the new Dean of Academic Affairs, Arts, and Sciences.

When asked what she loves most about her career choice, she said, “I like building support services and solving problems that help students achieve academic success.”

Armstrong’s responsibilities will include oversight of all the programs, faculty, and credentials offered in the humanities, physical, and social science divisions.

“We are so excited to have Shane on board,” said OCTC President Dr. Scott Williams. “Her experiences lend a unique perspective and fit well with our student success focus.”

Armstrong brings a wealth of experience from previous positions, including her most recent as the Dean of Student Success at Kentucky Wesleyan College.

Armstrong earned a bachelor of art in English and a master of art in English Literature from the University of Louisville. She holds a doctoral degree in Higher Education Leadership from California Lutheran University.

She has held a variety of positions in higher education, and her experience took her across the country before bringing her back home to Kentucky.

Armstrong and her husband, Jason Harris, reside with their family in Beaver Dam.
