Marjie Pippin has been named the next principal at Sorgho Elementary School. She will begin her new role July 1 following the retirement of current SES Principal Laura Cecil.

“I am committed to supporting students emotionally as well as academically. This support comes from building trustworthy relationships with students, families and staff,” Pippin said. “I am eager to begin this journey with the Sorgho community so we can make every effort to help each child reach his or her fullest potential.”

Pippin has been serving as the assistant principal at Meadow Lands Elementary School since 2017, where she has specialized in analyzing classroom instruction, facilitating the Multi-Tiered Systems of Support, and coordinating assessments of the English language learners.

Pippin began working with Daviess County Public Schools in 1999 at Highland Elementary School as a teacher before shifting to an instructional coach and gifted/talented coordinator in 2009.

“She is a product of Daviess County Public Schools and has been successful in numerous positions in our district. She strongly believes in all students and strives for their success,” said DCPS Director of Elementary Schools Leslie Peveler. “Most importantly, she will work toward building strong relationships with the staff, students and families of the Sorgho community.”
