Beth Blandford on Friday afternoon was named the next principal of Foust Elementary School after serving as interim since July 2021.
Owensboro Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Matthew Constant, read Blandford’s nomination letter, said that Blandford has understood what has made Foust strong during her time at the school and has also understood exactly what is needed to move forward.
“As a superintendent I cannot be happier with the decision of our council. She has been what we need at this moment. It’s been an honor to work alongside her during all of my 12 years at OPS,” Constant said.
Blandford was named interim after longtime Foust Principal Janie Moseley accepted a position at the district’s Central Office. Blandford was appointed to this role after spending the past three years as assistant principal at Foust. She began her career as a preschool teacher at Hager for two years before moving into a combined 2 years as kindergarten teacher and reading intervention specialist at Foust.
Blandford said it feels nice to be able drop the interim title, and she is excited to continue looking ahead to what more can be accomplished as she assumes the duties long-term.
Through tearful eyes, Blandford said that the one thing she wants people to know about Foust is that it’s a community dedicated to helping the children.
“As a full time principal, I just want to continue to build relationships with the students and the families and make their elementary school experience the best that it can be and prepare them for the world,” Blandford said.
