Beginning Monday, Owensboro Catholic Schools will be moving to a mask-optional policy, an official confirmed Friday afternoon. Earlier Friday, Owensboro Public Schools also announced they were moving to a mask-optional policy starting Monday. Daviess County Public Schools adopted a mask-optional at the end of 2021.
“OCS is going masks optional starting Monday, 2-14-22, based on declining numbers. This decision is being made based on our data, but is also in consult with our local hospital physicians who represent multiple disciplines,” Natalie Hayden, OCS Director of Advancement, wrote in an email to Owensboro Times on Friday afternoon.
OPS made their announcement at 1 p.m. via social media. The updated OPS COVID-19 plan can be accessed here by clicking “Updated COVID Policies Effective February 14, 2022.”
Daviess County Public Schools adopted a mask-optional policy for their middle and high schools in late November, while the same policy was extended to elementary schools in December. The latest updates on the DCPS COVID-19 operation plan can be found here.
