Joey Newton recently received the surprise of a lifetime when he opened a letter from one of his favorite actors, Adam Sandler.
A few months ago, Newton watched a show where a person sent all of their favorite celebrities a letter telling them how appreciative the person was of them. So starting in January, Newton did the same. He wrote to Sandler, Josh Peck, President Joe Biden, Miranda Cosgrove, Kenan Thompson and several others.
When he received a card from Sandler last week, it was pure joy for Newtown.
“It was awesome. It was good. It was as I always say, it was fantastic,” he said.
Newton said his favorite Sandler movie is Billy Madison, and said one of his favorite quotes is from Sandler’s iconic “shampoo is better” scene.
Newtown is part of the Day Training program at the Opportunity Center of Owensboro. Rosemary Conder, the Center’s Executive Director, said that Newton typed each letter himself and they were there to help facilitate the process and ultimately get them sent out through the organization.
On Monday afternoon, Newton said he sent a thank you letter back to Sandler and hopes that he this time the movie star makes a trip to Owensboro.
