Chad Priar was already on his third burger of the day by noon Tuesday, and his 17th since Friday. He and his wife Whitney are on track to try all 38 options before Owensboro Burger Week ends this Saturday.
“We’ve been doing it since it started,” Priar said. “My wife and I do it together. I was more into it at first and then last year she got more on board. It’s a daunting task to go around and get all these burgers.”
Even before taking a bite of his lunchtime burger, Priar was already talking about plans for which ones come next. He said that in order to stay on track, he and Whitney typically each eat half of the burger.
“We’ve been trying to do four a day — two for lunch, two for dinner,” Priar said. “I plan on hitting a few more today to try to stay ahead of it. The goal is to try every single one of them, but this year there are so many. We’ll try to get as many as we can.”
Priar said he’s been making notes about each burger so far, but isn’t ranking them until he’s given them all a try.
“It’s hard to rank them as you try them because you haven’t had the others yet,” he said. “So I’ve just been noting what I like and dislike about each one, and then at the end I’ll kind of see which burger is best.”
