The Western Kentucky Botanical Garden is preparing for its annual plant sale, with shopping to be done online once again. The online sale runs April 24-27, with pickups taking place April 28-29. Customers will be able to pick from a wide range of perennials, heirloom tomatoes and herb plants.
The sale will begin at noon on April 24 and last until 8 p.m. April 27. The link can be found here (the site will become active closer to the date of the sale). After placing and order, customers will need to schedule a pick-up slot using the link provided in the order email confirmation. Order pick-up will take place on April 28-29 at the Garden’s parking lot near the silos (25 Carter Road).
The move to hosting the sale online came during the pandemic, and WKBG Executive Director Laurna Strehl said it was well-received by the community.
The sale is also a partnership between the Garden and volunteers from the Green River Area Master Gardeners Association.
“So much time is spent in planning the inventory and also in growing plants from seed. Growing plants from seed is a whole set of challenges in itself and oftentimes yields a not so positive outcome,” Strehl said.
The sale acts as one of the many fundraisers for the Garden, and in the past has yielded over $5,000. Strehl is hopeful to continue the tradition in whatever format possible.
