The Green River Area Development District is accepting nominations for their annual awards that honor people and communities for making significant contributions to improving the quality of life in the area.

Since 2002, GRADD has honored three individuals each year with Regional Excellence Awards:

  • The Charles Reid Regional Citizenship Award is presented to a citizen from the public or private sector who has played a major role in regional development efforts.
  • The Texal Brooks Regional Leadership Award is presented to a current or former GRADD Board or committee member who has demonstrated outstanding regional leadership.
  • The Wendell Ford Legislative Leadership Award is presented to a local, state or national elected official who has dedicated his/her life to working with legislative issues and services for the region’s citizens.

Additionally, the GRADD Community of the Year Award — stablished in 2008 — honors a city or county who has initiated significant efforts to improve the quality of life for their residents.

“GRADD’s Regional Excellence Awards annually recognize individuals who have made significant contributions to improving the quality of life within our communities,” said GRADD Executive Director Joanna Shake. “Past recipients have demonstrated a dedication to not only public service but have also displayed exemplary leadership. We are excited to continue our annual awards tradition and look forward to honoring our 2021 regional champions.”

The deadline to submit nominations is Aug. 30. Winners will be announced Sept. 23 at the RiverPark Center.
