According to Owensboro city officials, the new downtown parking garage is open for business, but is still several stages away from being complete.
City Manager Nate Pagan said the brand new garage, located at 2nd and Locust Streets, earned its Certificate of Occupancy on Saturday after state officials approved the garage’s elevator inspection.

“It’s not fully completed,” Pagan said. “There may be times it’ll be closed due to other maintenance.”
The maintenance Pagan is referring to are the final additions needed to count the garage complete, such as the installation and proper operation of electric gate parking arms that allow access in and out of the parking garage.
The garage currently has the capacity to hold 437 parking spaces and is offering parking free of charge until rates are established by the City, according to Pagan.
