Owensboro’s ALDI Food Market is undergoing a major product expansion as part of the company’s aggressive growth initiative. On Aug. 9, the store on Hwy. 54 began adding more organic food products and merchandise to their aisles. The company says 20 percent of their products will be new in comparison to last year.
According to ALDI, they are in the middle of an accelerated growth plan that includes renovations across the 1,800 American stores as well as new store expansion numbers that will top out at 2,500 by the end of 2022. The entire growth plan is expected to cost $5 billion.
The nationwide product rollout will continue through early 2019. Aldi is increasing its fresh food selection by 40 percent. New items include more ready-to-cook and organic fresh meats, a wider selection of veggie noodles and ready-to-eat sliced fruit and organic fruit (mango, pineapple, watermelon spears), new vegan and vegetarian snacks and meat substitutes, expanded refrigeration offerings for grab-and-go convenience, fresh organic salsa, more drinks and refrigerated beverages, more baked goods, organic almond, coconut, and soy milk, among many others.
According to ALDI customer service, ALDI is now offering a huge range of gluten-free and vegetarian-friendly foods it didn’t previously offer to customers.
“We are definitely bringing healthier options into our stores. We have added to our Simply Nature organic line and our Earth Grown vegan line,” ALDI customer service said.
ALDI sells frequently purchased grocery and household items, primarily under its exclusive brands, which the company says meets or exceeds national name brands on taste and quality. ALDI also offers a Twice as Nice Guarantee on their products, meaning customers get a replacement product and full refund on the original if they find the product unsatisfactory.
